Personal Statement
Hello music students,
My name is Dimitrije Vasiljevic and I am a New York based pianist/composer/educator. I’ve got my Bachelor’s Degree at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA as well as at Faculty of Music Art (Belgrade, Serbia) and Master’s Degree from both New York University Steinhardt (Jazz Studies) and Faculty of Music Arts (Music Theory). I had the opportunity to tour a lot playing in concerts and music festivals all over Europe and USA. Some of the awards I got are: 3rd Jury Prize and Public Prize at “Montreux Solo Jazz Piano Competition”, “Jazz Performance Award” at Berklee and “Piano Department Achievement Award” at Berklee. I actively play with my own quartet all over the NYC as well as with various other jazz combos and solo piano performances. Currently I work as a professor of pop/jazz piano at NYU Steinhardt as well as a private piano teacher. The styles I can drastically improve your playing in are jazz, pop, rock, classical and world music. My goal is to make every lesson a fun and valuable experience for both myself and the student.
