Richland Academy is dedicated to exploring, expanding and creating lifelong learning opportunities in the arts and sciences in a six county area in North Central Ohio. The school is located in the Historic Carrousel District in downtown Mansfield and encompasses one square block. Instruction is available in performing and visual arts, creative writing, literacy and hands-on science in classes for newborns through older citizens. The school enrolls over 3,000 class registrants per year. A complete summer program is offered along with a variety of camps, workshops and intensives in all disciplines. Workshops and master classes are offered by leading artists in collaboration with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra. Outreach programs occur in collaboration with agencies such as Friendly House, Harmony House and the Salvation Army. School partnerships include the Mansfield City Schools TV Broadcast Marketing Program, John Simpson Middle School Arts Program and the Mansfield Community Charter School. Performances and demonstrations are held in a “black box theatre” and consist of children’s theatre, children’s opera theatre, adult opera theatre, reader’s theatre, musicals, choral concerts, cabaret performances, jazz concerts and student and faculty recitals
