General
Foundation Music School is non-profit community school of the arts committed to providing high quality arts opportunities to all individuals regardless of age, skill, ethnicity or income. Established in March 2006, Foundation Music School currently offers a range of classes for children of all ages and abilities which nurture the love of music in a developmentally appropriate way. Family Music classes bring the world of music to children from birth to 4 years old and their parents or caregivers using Musikgarten curriculum. Beginning Fall 2006, Music Makers is being added to prepare our students ages 4-6 years old for success at the keyboard. Our beginning keyboard programs utilize the benefits of small group classes to provide students with a total musicianship approach to the piano that is fun and motivating. Through a group approach to piano, children are able to learn from each other and overcome performance anxiety. Graduates of the keyboard program are equipped with skills often reserved for more advanced students and are ready for the focus and intensity of private piano lessons. In private piano lessons, students study with teachers with advanced degrees and are given the opportunity to work in ensembles throughout the year, perform in community recitals and participate in a week long summer music camp that is both fun and inspiring. For our students with special needs, Foundation Music School offers Adaptive Piano Lessons and Private Music Therapy Services facilitated by board certified music therapists with experience and training in working with individuals with various special needs.
