The Powers Music School is a regional, non-profit institution established in 1964 to provide superior musical instruction and performance opportunities to all interested students from 18 months to adults. The core founding principles, that all students are entitled to high quality musical instruction and that music is an essential part of our lives, continue to guide the School today. Instruction includes: private lessons in voice and most instruments; a variety of childhood music programs; Suzuki violin, cello and guitar; music therapy; jazz and chamber music ensembles; and early music consorts. The School sponsors a wide range of community outreach events, including chamber music and piano festivals, faculty performances, and a community “Open Sings” program. Summer programs include: Music on the Hill (a 4-week chamber music camp for students ages 9-15) and Pow-Wow (a 2-week music camp for ages 5-9). The School currently serves more than 800 students representing more than 650 families who take over 900 classes and travel from over 35 surrounding communities.
