Personal Statement
Hi ! My name is Karen. I have been teaching music – primarily piano practice, theory and performance – in Rancho Cucamonga since 1983. My studio, Beginnings in Music, is both the oldest and the largest private piano studio in this city. The majority of new students come from recommendations – so I am doing something right! I have played professionally, am currently learning guitar, cello, dulcimer and recorder, continuing classes on music pedagogy and child development and have spent many years working with various choirs and child care.
I come from a musical family and I have always been involved with music, but I began teaching music in high school. By the time I graduated from college I had a full studio and a job I already loved. And that is what it takes. I am closely involved with the State and national music teachers organizations and a past district IV coordinator for EMTA and a vice president of our local chapter.
I very much wanted to expand into general music for the very young child as well. After much research, I chose Kindermusik as the best available quality program for young students. I have been teaching the Kindermusik program since 1999 and I am still very much impressed by its overall quality and the sheer amount of thought and research put into each detail. Kindermusik is continually researching and updating their programs for ever increasing quality. They are committed to bringing the best for you and your child.
