August 9th: In the first masterclass August 9th students will be introduced to basic techniques for playing alternative styles on string instruments. We will discuss and listen to examples for each style and how they are adaptable to string instruments. Students will learn how to construct a basic improvisation solo. EAch student will have a turn taking a constructed improv solo with teacher guidance. Students will receive a practice packet and CD to further develop techniques at home. August 23rd: Local musicians will demonstrate improvisation, song writing, and performance techniques. Students will learn how to play in a band and be able to play with local and experienced performers. Both Sessions are extremely interactive and fun! It will be very much participation oriented and engaging. All students of any age and ability are able to participate.
