General
The Temple University Music Preparatory Division (Temple Music Prep) is the continuing education (non-credit) division of the Esther Boyer College of Music and Dance. Its mission is to provide a wide range of outstanding programs in music and dance for pre-college students and an enriching series of lessons, classes, and cultural events for adults, and to provide overall community access to the expertise of the Boyer College . Renowned for its seriousness of purpose and the high quality of its programs, Temple Music Prep currently serves students from newborns to senior citizens. Within its overall mission are three particular objectives: in accord with the tradition established by Temple’s founder, Russell Conwell, to provide music instruction to young people from families with limited financial resources, through its Community Music Scholars Program and the Tuition Scholarship Fund; to identify and develop the talent of highly motivated youth by providing them with lessons, ensemble training, and performance experience with a faculty of high caliber; and to provide instruction and enrichment courses to students of all ages and levels of experience.
