SPA-AA serves as an art resource center for the Greater Ann Arbor community and southeast Michigan. Its music readiness classes serve children ages 18 months-9 years in Kindermusik and Dalcroze/Orff, music appreciation classes for age 6 through adult, music theory classes, and chamber music for youth and adults, and small jazz combos. Ensembles include Youth String Orchestra, Junior String Orchestra, Adult Flute Ensemble, Adult Reading Orchestra, and Children of Score (String, Choral, Orff, Recorder Ensemble). Private instruction for all instruments and voice is available. Over 300 students are currently enrolled. The School has also sponsored a Music Discovery Concert Series; Chamber Music Network/Directory for adults which enables chamber music players to self-evaluate their performance level; and Music for the Mood, using faculty/advanced students for special events.
