The Community Music School of Springfield will mark the 25th anniversary of its founding in 2008. It remains as committed to equal access to arts as when it was founded. With more than 735 music students each week on State Street, studying more than 30 different instruments, voice and dance, and more than 1200 additional students participating in afterschool enrichment programs throughout the region, CMSS is an important arts resource for Western Massachusetts. CMSS serves populations through its Community Partnership Division as diverse as Head Start teachers learning to integrate music and movement into the curriculum, to incarcerated young men and women exploring their creative talents.
