Personal Statement

By employing my unique approach to music instruction, I’ve been successful at producing quality, versatile musicians and singers for over 13 years. Part of my mission is to develop well rounded musicians and have developed a curriculum proven successful at doing so. My pupils gain vast knowledge and understanding of their instrument as they are challenged to study at least two genres simultaneously (including Classical, Jazz, Gospel, Rock, Pop and R&B). Students will further appreciate studying with me as they are able to rapidly apply the concepts they’ll learn in theory, sight reading and ear training.

Vocal performance is one of the most personal forms of expression, using the body as the medium. The art of singing therefore is extremely subjective, governed more on delivery and interpretation than in other instruments. I understand this fully and equip vocalist with the tools to discover and exercise their true sound, ultimately releasing their inner voice. It is my belief that the study of the singing voice encompasses three main points of focus: physical, mental and emotional.
