Personal Statement

WE CREATE EXPERIENCES THAT EDUCATE AND ENTERTAIN AUDIENCES ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

MusicLiteracyNYC is a creative education company that cultivates the personal aspirations and teaching needs of its community. Our original work centers on generating content that teaches the practical and theoretical fundamentals of music to aspiring actors, dancers and musicians {of all ages}, giving everyone a platform for succeeding in the world of academia and entertainment.

The goal here is to take raw material and teaching how to have a positive effect on the students and their careers.
We offer engaging lectures and hands-on workshops for a variety of audiences: young artists {dancers, actors, musicians, aspiring for admission to elite liberal arts schools and universities} and music lovers of all ages interested in learning how to read music, master perfect pitch {absolute pitch & relative pitch} and understand the laws of music.

David Livianu is the founder of MusicLiteracyNYC. David was born in Romania and he believes that anyone can develop a professional musical ear using the same knowledge and exercises that earned him a Masters Degree at The Juilliard School {with a full scholarship}.

Touring as a concert pianist, Mr. Livianu discovered that a new global middle class desperately wants an elite music education, which is currently available only in a few brick and mortar schools like The Juilliard School in NYC, The Moscow Conservatory in Russia, etc; the idea is to provide unbundled, disaggregated education of courses like ear-training, sight-singing and music theory, through a personal method that is quick, simple and efficient.

*”David Livianu’s ear-training course, including the written materials and videos, are magisterial in their systematic coverage of the Western tonal system. They would provide any music student with the rock-solid foundation they need to function fluently in that system. And they are accessible and fun to boot.”
Professor Timothy Rice, Emeritus Director of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. *
