Personal Statement

My intention is that the study of piano and voice have a lasting, positive effect on all my students. I want their hearts to sing as they develop and express their instrument in a supportive and creative environment.

I relate very well to my students and care about them as the unique individuals they are. I have an insightful, positive, and caring teaching style.

Lessons are planned for each student, while keeping flexibility to explore new topics on the spot. I feel it’s very important for students to receive a well-rounded music education and have a thorough understanding and application of musicianship.

I believe that music, like life, is a journey. And while it’s very important to have goals, it’s actually MORE important to enjoy the journey towards those goals.

If I sound like the kind of teacher you are looking for, you are welcome to make an appointment for a complimentary, introductory lesson.

Education / Training

I started my musical education when I was a young child, singing and playing the piano throughout school. I went on to earn a B.A. degree in Music, Piano Performance from Spelman College, Atlanta Ga (magna cum laude).

I’ve been both teaching and performing as a pianist/keyboardist and vocalist throughout the years.

I’m an avid musician/vocalist and educator who is constantly learning, performing, growing, and paying it forward. (I am a member of The Augusta Music Teachers Association which is affiliated with Georgia Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association; Music Director at Unity of Augusta.

I’m also a student and mentee of music industry vocal coach Richard Fink IV and a recipient of The International Vocal Scholarship.)

You will get the very best that I can possibly offer. This will result in you getting the most from your music study.
