Personal Statement

Private instruction is a wonderful gift not only for the student, but for the teacher. To watch a student develop and to use music as a vessel for growth not only as a musician but as a person, is certainly a gift that continues giving. I have been truly lucky to have had certain private teachers, it’s is my goal to give back the happiness, feelings of accomplishment, and everything else that comes with those things given to me.

Education / Training

It’s been 14 years since I began studying drums and percussion and music in general. I’ve been truly blessed to have had great teachers and mentors. I apprenticed with Buzz Saylor and studied and continue to study with Martin Bradfield. In the past I had briefly studied with Porter Eidam III and John Rozum. I’ve been part of an award-winning drumline in high school at Boyertown Area Senior High (which performed in England and France), the Temple University drumline, and many performing groups at Kutztown University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance (Percussion). At Kutztown, I had the privilege of studying with many great teachers..Dr. Willis Rapp, Dr. Frank Kumor, Allison Miller, and Jon Wikan to name a few. I was also afforded wonderful opportunities to travel and perform with the KU percussion ensemble in Athens, Greece and Bjelovar, Croatia. I’ve also performed with the KU Jazz Ensemble at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Continuing to be blessed, I have performed with the musicians from the band Simon Apple. I have been teaching privately for nearly six years. I have also been teaching at Pottstown High School as the Percussion Instructor since 2006 and most recently began teaching at Owen J. Roberts High School in the same capacity.
