Personal Statement
I provide productive violin lessons using the traditional violin teaching method. Intense focus on technique, sight reading, interpretation of the piece, as well as music theory, understanding the period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic).
I teach students not only how to play, but also how to learn, how to explore their own creativity.
I believe in a progressive step by step approach to teaching when each practice session builds skills towards the next level of an artistic tone and technique. I realize that growth occurs in stages and is very individualized. I accept the challenge of matching musical growth to your desire and your present environment.
Education / Training
I earned my Bachelor Degree in violin teaching and performance (excellent marks) from Gorky Musical College (Gorky, former USSR), and Masters Degree in violin performance from State Gnessins Musical Pedagogical Institute (Moscow) and Gorky State Conservatory of Music (Gorky, former USSR) where I studied with professors S. Djachenko, N. Shkolnikova, S. Yaroshevich.
I started my pedagogical career in 1974. I worked for two music colleges as a violin teacher as well as teacher of chamber ensemble, quartet and orchestra classes.
For several years I used to work in Russian Camerata chamber orchestra and TV-6 symphony orchestra (Moscow, Russia), Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra (Skokie, IL).
