Personal Statement
Marina Kerze is a classical pianist and a piano teacher. She had studied at St.Petersburg Conservatory, Perm Music College, Cleveland State University and Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and an Artist Diploma. She had participated in and won several piano competitions and attended music festivals. She has been successfully teaching for over 10 years, students of different levels and ages (minimum age is 4). All students will learn basic theory and technique, classical repertoire and other pieces of your choice.
Education / Training
Marina Kerze is a classical pianist known for her impressive virtuosity and a very fluid playing. Her performances are described as brilliant, powerful and excellent in rhythm and accuracy. She has a wonderful facility and ease at the instrument and a simple yet elegant stage presence. Marina Kerze was born in Perm, Russia into a musical family. Since her early childhood she was actively participating in the concert life of her home town. She made her debut with a symphony orchestra at the age of 12, won several local and national piano competitions such as Eigumnov All Russian Competition (Lipetzk, Russia), Tchaikovsky All Russian Festival (Perm, Russia) and took part in many master classes given by professors from Moscow and St.Petersburg Conservatories. After graduating from Perm School of Music and Perm Music College Mrs. Kerze had entered St. Petersburg State Conservatory in 2002 and continued her studies with Igor Lebedev, at the same time gaining more musical experience. In 2005 she moved to the United States to study with Margarita Shevchenko at Cleveland State University. She had participated in a great number of concerts as a soloist, as an accompanist and a member of a chamber ensemble and orchestra. She had won a number of concerto competitions, performing Mozart Concertos, Beethoven Concerto No. 1, Mendelssohn Concerto No. 2, Rachmaninov Concerto No. 1, Saint-Saens Concerto No. 2. Her performance of Saint-Saens Concerto No. 2 was a great success. Marina received her Masters Degree in Piano Performance in 2007 and an Artist diploma in 2011 from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Most recently she had participated in prestigious Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition, Astral Artists National Piano Auditions, Master Classes with Lori Sims at Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, solo and chamber music recitals at Oberlin Conservatory and many other venues. Marina started teaching at the age of 16 in Perm, Russia. She holds a teaching license from Perm Music College and also received teaching training while studying in St.Petersburg Conservatory. She has been a piano faculty member of the Aurora School of Music since 2006.
