Personal Statement
All living things have music in them. It is like a sun covered with clouds. Once the clouds of ignorance (lack of exposure and training) is removed by a teacher, the knowledge shines. Music has been a way to communicate emotions even before language was discovered. A good musician can arouse the same emotions, he experiences in his/her listeners.
Teaching music is not like teaching maths and science. Music is a continuous creation and rendition with ingredients of thought, emotions and notes. I have been teaching music to students from 7 years old to 65 years old and all have different aptitude, approach and grasp to learning music.
PATIENCE, PATIENCE AND PATIENCE is the key to teach and learn music. I have it and I want the students to have it as well. There is NO short cut to learning music.
I have Bachelor in Music (Specialization in Indian instrument- Sitar), Masters of Performing Arts and Sangeet Visharad” from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, India. I have received numerous appreciations from the students and their families for the way I teach music. With dedication, practice and perseverance we can all learn and enjoy the deep ocean of music.
Our classes are divided into three different approaches:
01. curriculum for Gandharva Mahavidyalaya examinations held in USA.
02. Regular studies in Hindustani Music
03. Learning ragas selected by students(mainly by adults)
A student can select whichever approach he/she wishes. Classes are held mainly in Plainsboro and Princeton locations at this time. If there is any other arrangement necessary we can consider it as needed.
Education / Training
Started learning Hindustani Classical Music- Sitar, at a very young age of 11 years. At the age of 20-21, became a Radio artist and started giving stage performances. I performed at various locations in India, Kenya and US.
Teaching Music since 15 years to students of all ages and all levels.
