Personal Statement
I studied under Kathryn Mix, a certified piano teacher in Hastings, Michigan from 1993-2001. While studying with Kathryn Mix, I was a participant in the National Piano Playing Auditions Guild of Piano Teachers. I have completed all levels in the Michigan Music Teachers Association for Student Achievement Testing. My performances also include the Piano Festivals sponsored by the Battle Creek Area Music Teachers Association.
Part of my training includes studies at the International Academcy of Music in Indianapois, Indiana, where I completed Principles of Harmony and Hymn Improvision. Additional training included Songwriting Skills, Children’s Choirs, Theory Principles, and Choral Training.
I have been an accompanist for churches, schools and weddings. I travelled extensively with Life Action Ministries as a pianist and vocalist.
I am currently a member of Michigan Teachers National Association, MTNA; Michigan Music Teachers Association, MMTA; and Battle Creek Area Music Teachers Association, BCAMTA.
I teach beginning-advanced level students of all ages. Skills taught include: Performance, Written Theory, Sight Reading, Transposition, Technique, Aural Awareness, Religious/Sacred Performance, Chord Structure, and Hymn Accompaniment.
