Personal Statement
Hello! My name is David Ciucevich. I am Lecturer of Clarinet and Music History at The College of St. Rose. I have over 35 years professional experience as a solo and orchestral clarinetist (Bb, A, Eb, and Bass Clarinets) and have been teaching for 30 years. My students routinely gain near-perfect scores at NYSSMA solo festivals and play with the ESYO Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. I am also an operatic tenor who performed two years ago in recital in Vienna, Austria in the home where legendary composer Franz Schubert was born! In addition, I’m a huge Beatles fan and expert, playing rhythm guitar and singing with Beatles’ “sound-a-like” bands in New York City. I enjoy teaching all the clarinets, voice, guitar, and piano at all levels from beginner to professional. I use the latest knowledge to make your practicing fun and productive, leading to more satisfying performances! I look forward to speaking with you soon and working together! All the best!
Education / Training
I have been fortunate to have studied clarinet with some of the greatest performers ever! My principal clarinet teachers include Bil Jackson (The Aspen Festival, Vanderbilt University) and Mark Nuccio (Assistant Principal and Eb Clarinet, New York Philharmonic). I also performed recently in a masterclass in Cleveland, OH for legendary clarinetists Stanley Drucker (recently retired after 61(!) years as Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic) and Ted Johnson (clarinetist in The Cleveland Orchestra for 36 years). I hold a MM with a Double Major in clarinet performance and musicology from The University of Northern Colorado and a BM in clarinet performance from Georgia Southern University. As a singer, I have studied voice and coached with Heidi Skok (The Metropolitan Opera, NY) and Michael Clement.
