Personal Statement
I specialize in the Suzuki Piano Method, a listening-based approach to music instruction. Because of the emphasis on listening, students are able to progress quickly and tend to enjoy lessons more. They are able to focus on their own sound as they play, and develop a good musical sensitivity.
My philosophy is every child can learn to play the piano. I also believe that learning happens best while having fun, so I add games and other fun learning activities to the lessons when possible.
My program consists of weekly private piano lessons and a monthly group Workshop for all students. Music theory and performance is the focus of the Workshops. Students also perform in informal recitals & community opportunities. Lesson fees are $125 per month for 30 minutes weekly.
Education / Training
I have received my Suzuki teacher training at various Suzuki Workshops and Summer Institutes where I was taught by certified Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainers including Dr. Haruko Kataoka. I am certified and registered with the Suzuki Assoc. of the Americas, and am an active Teacher Member of the organization.
I have attended Saddleback College and Biola Univ., majoring in Music.
