Personal Statement

I believe everyone has some ability to create music. Even the most complex music can be broken down into simple ideas and movements. My goal as an instructor is to understand the students goals and give them the most direct way to achieve them through simple and effective exercises.

I have had a wide range of experiences as a musician through study and performance of different genres and those experiences help me to better understand my students needs. Part of being an effective instructor is understanding how different people learn.

I have 10 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings including: as an adjunct at a university, music stores, summer camps, and through my private studio. I have taught beginners to advanced students and many of my students go on to be career musicians. One of my students went on to Berklee College of Music on 2 scholarships.

Many of my students have studied with other instructors and have told me how my approach has been more effective for them.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my services!
