Music in the Mountains PA gives young musicians an opportunity to concentrate on the study and performance of chamber music in a beautiful, peaceful setting in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. The program provides an experience that is unique in its intensity of musicianship and community. Members of The Philadelphia Trio, assisted by other faculty, work with a select group of students, chosen by audition, ages 13-20, to encourage them in exploring some of the chamber music repertoire for strings and piano. The small size of the camp enables concentrated interaction between the coaches and the students throughout the two week summer session while living in the small village of Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania. The students have two daily sessions of chamber music coaching with MIM faculty. The basic study of music theory, ear- training and music history is also part of the daily schedule. As an important part of the experience, students have two performance opportunities, the first at local churches in town and the final concert at the DeWire Center ending two weeks of successful music making and great learning.
