General
Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM) is a 23-year old nonprofit music school training the musicians and audiences of the future. In the belief that music is for everyone, PCM offers a comprehensive curriculum that serves infants to seniors, the hobbyist to the pre-professional. PCM offers instruction on all orchestral instruments, a keyboard program (including class piano), a chamber music program, a preschool curriculum, and classes in theory and history to over 1,300 onsite students each year. PCM’s numerous collaborative projects with public schools and social service agencies serve over 4,000 children annually. PCM’s students and chamber music groups are highly regarded and receive frequent requests to perform at civic and community events. PCM began its operations in the basement of a church with 40 students, 8 instructors and a volunteer administration. It has grown to a school of 55 faculty members and 7 full-time staff members. In recent years the Conservatory has experienced uninterrupted growth and a rapidly expanding enrollment. To support this growth PCM’s board of directors launched a successful capital campaign in August 2000 that enabled PCM to purchase a permanent site, situated at the intersection of the educational and cultural corridors of the community.
