Suburban Music School (SMS) provides music instruction to approximately 400 students of all ages and abilities in the southwest suburban Philadelphia area. Offerings include private lessons on all band and orchestral instruments, voice, piano, jazz piano, guitar, composition and theory; choral and instrumental ensembles for children, teens and adults; Kindermusik; and music therapy. Suburban Music School’s outreach program is called Partners in Music Education. It consists of three programs: the scholarship program, offering partial scholarships to students in need; the Chester Music Program, serving several daycare and after school programs in the city of Chester; and the Visiting Artists Program, providing master classes, workshops and concerts to schools in Delaware County. Student recitals are held throughout the year, and faculty concerts are held at least twice a year.
