Since its founding, Turtle Bay Music School has focused on a mission to foster love and knowledge of music by providing high quality musical instruction to motivated students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of ability. The unifying principle that guides its programs is the fundamental belief that individual creativity is a vital means of bringing together a culturally and ethnically diverse community. Over the years, it has grown into a major community institution with a wide range of music programs reaching more than 2,000 students annually. TBMS’s music programs include: high quality music instruction in more than 20 instruments and voice for nearly 900 children and adults of all backgrounds each year; scholarships and tuition assistance for any student with financial need; music outreach programs that serve more than 1,000 New York City public school students; the Margules Music Therapy program, the only music therapy program in New York City for at-risk teenagers in the foster care system; recitals, master classes and concerts at Turtle Bay Music School; and community concerts at New York City hospitals and senior centers.
