General
The Suzuki School of Newton (SSN) was founded with the mission of promoting early childhood cultural, intellectual and character development through a proven music education program. Typically, the SSN’s 220 students receive weekly all three of the following: 1) a private lesson, 2) an instrumental group class, and 3) a Solfege class. Parents attend these classes to observe and reinforce the lessons in practice sessions at home. SSN is an exceptional resource for children diagnosed with attention deficit disorders, autism and dyslexia, as well as for gifted children. The school is extremely active in the area of outreach including offering lessons to at-risk children and actively involving seniors in adult amateur chamber ensembles. Committed to community service, SSN participates in numerous public performances including area nursing homes and City events. The School benefited from support by the Newton Cultural Council and by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
