General
The Hoffman Performing Arts Institute at Ruth Eckerd Hall is committed to providing lifelong learning opportunities which provide accessibility to and exploration, discovery and mastery of the arts. A diverse program of off and on site instruction, performances, community arts programs and services as well as the home of the Eckerd Theater Company, Ruth Eckerd Hall’s professional theater company for young audiences makes the Hoffman Institute a primary resource for the arts. Programs include: Preparatory and exploratory private and class instruction in drama, vocal music, jazz instrumental and dance, professional development for teachers and area artists, youth performance opportunities in professional venues, performances for youth, adults and schools. In addition, The Institute strengthens its impact through ongoing partnerships with area organizations. Resident programs include The Pinellas Youth Symphony and the Clearwater Chorus. Off-site instructional partnerships include The Sheriff’s Youth Ranch and the Institute’s ‘arts infusion’ model at Skycrest Elementary School; Passport to the Arts. A new initiative utilizing local artists as well as artist in training is our work with the Morton Plant Mease Foundation to bring the arts to doctors, nurses and patients through the Arts in Medicine Program. We truly believe in the power of “Life Long Learning through and in the Arts.”
