Personal Statement

As a Broadway, Symphonic, Opera, Solo, and Chamber Music performer of violin and viola, I have helped students develop practice and performance skills for over 13 years. I draw from a variety of teaching methods, and tailor my approach to merge with each student’s individual learning style and musical interests. I teach because I love to help students discover why making music on a chosen instrument will bring a lifetime of fulfillment. Student success is built upon skills gained in small steps presented in a logical, fun way from an experienced, insightful teacher.

I was a faculty member of the Flint School of Performing Arts in Flint, MI for 7 years, and have recently joined the faculty of the Berkshire Music School. On Broadway, I have served as Concertmaster for the Lincoln Center Touring Production of “South Pacific”, and Violinist for “West Side Story, “White Christmas”, and “The Producers”. I have performed with the Sarasota Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Opera New Jersey, Princeton Symphony, Albany Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Albuquerque, Santa Fe Symphony, New Hampshire Music Festival, Greenwich Symphony, Allentown Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, and many others.

I hold Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Violin Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. My principal teachers include Burton Kaplan, Stephen Shipps, LeRoy Fenstermacher, and Thomas Halpin.
