Personal Statement

I am a 4th generation violinist with 32 years of playing the violin. i hold a Bachelor of Music Degree in violin Performance from Belhaven College. I have served as president of Mississippi Music Educator’s Association- Orchestra Division. I have played with various community and church orchestras. Currently, I am a public school general music teacher for grades 3-6 although I have taught Pre-kindergarten -12th Grade. I have taught school Music for the last 17 years. I am certified to teach choral Music, General Music, Instrumental Music and Strings. I have started 5 different strings programs around the state in Laurel, Magee and Jackson Area. I have had students compete in state fair Fiddling competitions as well as students participating in various orchestra camps and honor choirs. I have also had students rank highly in All state honor orchestras. I have been recognized as an outstanding Graduate of APAC Music. Most recently, I was honored as a recipient of the 2011 Metro Jackson Outstanding Educator Award.
