Personal Statement
I live in north central Florida with my husband and son. I have been playing the violin/viola for over twenty five years. I have extensive professional experience playing solo, in chamber groups, and in orchestras. I have played for local orchestras including The Ocala Philharmonic and The Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. I have also played with such personalities as Harry Connick Jr., Marvin Hamlish, Melissa Manchester, and Shelby Lynn.
I began studying the viola at the age of eight with Professor Eden Vanning Rosen in Clearwater, FL. I then went to Jacksonville University and began my performance degree with Dr. Aaron Kosnick. I transferred to the University of South Florida studying with Dr. William Hayden and Prof. Kathy Aagard and graduated with a B.S. in Music Education.
I started playing weddings and other events at age 16 and took my first serious students in college. Through teaching I feel I can pass on a love of music to others as it was passed to me. In tight budget times, public music education has become less of a priority for schools throughout Florida. I feel that private instruction must fill this gap and can provide an appreciation of music that children and adults may not get elsewhere.
