Personal Statement
I teach private guitar lessons at all levels. I like to emphasize the connections between the many branches of American music, from traditional folk to blues, jazz, rock, and country. I also teach basic classical technique and repertoire. See my website for other lesson information. www.paulwegmann.com
When it comes to teaching Music, I prefer the most universalistic approach. Music is a Path that offers insight into a larger understanding of harmony, timing, and creativity. Underneath the essentials of ear training, form recognition, reading, improvisation, and theory, I like to provide the contexts that show how and why we make the many kinds of music that we do.
My teaching studio is also a recording studio, so lessons can also include songwriting & arranging, recording techniques, and digital technology. I often design a program that is customized to a person’s particular goals.
