Education / Training

Robin Black- Director, Producer, Spiritual Being, Pup Lover and overall sassy Southern woman, is living out her dreams in Nashville, TN. Prior to nurturing her ideal purpose as a multi-faceted music business owner and coach, she earned her storyline credits by her cameo roles in many eclectic facets of life. Given her immersion in music at an early age, she has always loved rousing a crowd- whether it be with a classical instrumental, a belty show tune, or an improvisational comedic monologue.

Fort Payne, Alabama was where the magic first started brewing. Who could not love music when you hail from the home of the band, Alabama, as well as the sock capital of the world? Robin grew up with the beat tightly knit into her fiber, with several musical family members to pave her way to a musical education. Despite wrestling with feelings of angst towards honing her craft, she never quit learning- or practicing the piano. This would lead her to Music City to pursue (and obtain) a Bachelors of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Musical Theatre at Belmont University.

After college, Robin had the opportunity to travel and perform in Tennessee and Arkansas. But her heart kept pulling her back to Nashville to create and develop her own brand of musical education. She became an accredited Simply Music Piano instructor (expanding her musical camaraderie nationally and across continents), and opened the doors to her very own studio in 2007. From that time on, Robin started comfortably receiving what would be her role of a lifetime- a giver of the beloved music she has always carried in her soul. She continues to work with a range of multi-level piano and theatre students across the board, including experienced award winning country music artists and Music Row vocal coaches. While juggling the many facets of executive director of her studio, Robin always seeks to expand her creative ideas into an already thriving music scene in Nashville.

Purposefully, Robin shares her schooling openly and freely. This attribute of her personality makes her current role in life extraordinarily passionate- which is encouraging her students to be exactly who they are! With a gracious intent to submerge her classes in a broad range of styles and music genres, Robin seeks to kindle a spark of her students own unique storylines. Expectations in the musical and theater realm are, by default, set very high. However, Robins journey has led her to be a source of empathetic balance to anyone who is afraid of the critical harshness that companions music business. Failure is just another opportunity to succeed at your purpose- a purpose which you may not have even discovered was there all along. Her dog, Max, is ever-ready to give positive critique and encouragement to all, as long as he is reciprocated the same amount of love and attention given to students.
