Personal Statement
Violin and fiddle lessons available in Palo Alto. I have played violin since the age of six and, and taught violin and fiddle since 2003. I have a Bachelor of Music from San Francisco State University, and an Associate of Arts in Comprehensive Musicianship from De Anza College. Over the years I have played in the De Anza Orchestra, The Palo Alto Philharmonic, The San Francisco State Orchestra, San Francisco State Chamber Music Program, the Allodola Violin Duet, The Four Finger String Band, and I now play in The Skidaneko and Green Bluegrass Duet (www.bluegrassduetsmusic.com,The Montara Duet (www.facebook.com/TheMontaraDuet), and The Green Willow Girls (www.facebook.com/GreenWillowGirls) . I have studied Violin and Fiddle with Fredric Lifsitz of the Alexander String Quartet, Janet Gillespie, Mike Tatar Jr., and Chad Manning, among others.My lessons are $20 per half hour, or $30 for a full hour.

– Bluegrass and Old Time fiddling, including popular jam tunes, soloing and improvising, and playing with other musicians.
– Basic Classical Music using the Suzuki and/or Strictly Strings books.
– Tutoring for school orchestra members.
– Playing by ear, and learning to play music from your CDs or tapes.
– Christmas Carols and other popular music
My students including first time musicians, and intermediate players. I teach both adults and school aged children, and specialize in adult beginners. I use both traditional teaching methods, parts of the Suzuki method, and personal methods I have developed with my students. I have been teaching fiddle and violin for over ten. Lessons are at my home, in Palo Alto, near Gunn High School and the Veterans Hospital.
