General

A summer at Kneisel Hall represents a significant opportunity to study with distinguished faculty and celebrated guest artists in an environment particularly well suited for the serious student of chamber music. Kneisel Hall is known for its unusually high faculty/student ratio: ten faculty instruct just 50 students. At the beginning of the summer and again at mid-season, students are placed in at least two ensembles. Each group receives two hours of coaching weekly. The ensembles have daily rehearsals, with repertoire including both classical and contemporary works. The sessions include evening master classes, discussions and individual work with faculty. Each session culminates in a series of well-attended performances. Many parents make it a point to visit the campus during the Young Artist Concerts to share in the excitement of the performances.
