Personal Statement

Betsy is a seasoned music educator, having taught students professionally since 1994. She encourages her students to participate in adjudications, competitions, and performance opportunities. Many of her piano and harp students continue their musical studies at the collegiate level both as performance or music education majors.

Harp Lessons: Betsy teaches the Grandjany/Renie method. As part of her curriculum, students will utilize technique exercises and a wide range of literature coupled with a sight reading and theory program to ensure their musical growth. Although she stresses standard literature, she does introduce other music including church music, Broadway, popular, and Celtic repertoire to students.

Piano Lessons: Every piano student is different in their musical journey. Betsy chooses repertoire and method books based on the student?s needs. Their curriculum will include varied music literature, theory, and sight reading. Advanced students have the opportunity to be coached in accompanying and music theatre techniques.

Other Information: Betsy welcomes beginner to advanced students, ages 8 through adult, although some exceptions are made for younger students. Interested parents and students are encouraged to set up an interview. If you are interested in starting your studies on the harp, Betsy is happy to assist and guide you in your harp rental and purchase. Lessons take place in North Macon near the Shoppes at Riverside.
