Personal Statement
I have a bachelor’s and master’s in voice and voice pedagogy, I teach voice pedagogy at the college level, and I’ve been a professional collaborative pianist since age 12. In addition to my classical voice degrees, I have specific training in working with CCM (non-classical) singers. I’m fully certified in Somatic Voicework The LoVetri Method and I’ve trained at the CCM Voice Pedagogy Institute for 7 years. My work is heavily informed by the work of Cornelius Reid, the father of functional voice training. I’m a Voice Specialist, which means I have in-depth training that allows me to work with more extreme ends of the singer spectrum, including injured voices and professional voices. I keep my finger on the pulse of the singing world by attending professional conferences, collaborating with other professional musicians and teachers, keeping up with new and emerging artists, and staying abreast of the latest scientific research in the training of the voice. I’m also a professional singer. I believe in practicing what I teach and bringing what I’ve learned from my performing experience into the studio.
