Personal Statement
I believe that music is a powerful and essential art form. It encourages skills that can influence nearly every aspect of life and learning. Music provides a strong foundation for children, encouraging them to learn and interact creatively; it can serve as a fun and challenging outlet for the adult student; and, for some, it can even develop into a career. I help my students map out their short-term and long-term goals and encourage them to explore the path of their own personal musical journey. I offer guidance in practice techniques and reed making. As a teacher, I have taught students of all ages and I have taught at the university level. As a performer, I have played with a wide variety of ensembles throughout the country on modern and historical instruments. I look forward to working with each of my students, using the knowledge I have gained from my own personal experience to help them in their own artistic growth.
