Personal Statement

Carlos Enrique was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He
attended the Conservatory of Music of P. R. (funded by Pablo Casals)
and studied classical guitar with Leonardo Egurbida
and composition with Amaury Veray.

In 1981 he was awarded 3rd prize finalist in the Mobil
Corporation Classic Guitar competition in San Juan
Puerto Rico, and was the only one to receive honorable mention for his original compositions. In 1983, 84 and 85 was awarded 1st, 3rd and 1st prize by the Institute of
Culture of Puerto Rico for his dances for classical guitar.

Later, he studied at the Esther Boyer College of Music at
Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated
magna cum laude, with a Master in Music and
Post Master Certificate in Performance.

Bachelor in Music & Performance – training composition, orchestration harmony, counterpoint form and analysis, guitar emsemble, repertoire, music history and art history.

Master in Music – Extensive training in music and performance

Post Master Certificated – Extensive performance, analysis
of scores, listening hundreds of works from solo instruments to full orchestra,
chamber music, guitar ensemble and repertoire.

At the present, performing, composing, 3 CD’S recorded, teaching private
and volunteering for a non profit music institution.

Master Classes/Training: Classical guitar with Leonardo Egurbida*(he studied with Regino Sainz de la Maza), Juan Sorroche (3rd prize in the famous Radio France Guitar Competition), Peter Segal at Temple University, Ricardo Cobo in New York*(well known concert artist) and composition with Amaury Veray*(one the most important historian and composers in Puerto Rico) Master classes with Sharon Isbin (USA),Eliot Fisk (USA), Oscar Giglia (Italy), Baltazar Benitez (Argentina), Roberto Ausell (France), Alice Artz (USA), Ernesto Cordero (P.R., well known composer) and Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.
