Personal Statement

Flutist Kristin Paxinos has appeared as soloist and orchestral musician throughout the United States and Europe, performing in such legendary venues as Lincoln Center, Chicagos Symphony Center, and Carnegie Hall.

Kristin has taught students of all ages and playing levels. She began teaching with the Bloomington Young Winds Program, specializing in working with beginning flute students. Kristin was also an undergraduate teaching assistant at Indiana University, teaching class piano and private flute lessons, and has run her own home studio for more than 10 years.

Kristins solo performances include appearances at the Syrinx Flute Festival, the Viggiano Flute Festival, the National Flute Associations Annual Convention, and The Chicago Cultural Centers Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series. She has also performed as concerto soloist with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Evansville Philharmonic, the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, and the Indiana University Orchestra.

Her orchestral experience includes flute and piccolo positions with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Evansville Philharmonic, the Terre Haute Symphony, and the Bloomington Pops Orchestra. In addition, Daniel Barenboim awarded Kristin a principal flute position in his East-Western Divan Orchestra an orchestra that brought together talented young musicians from the United States and the Middle East.

Kristin began her music education in Chicago, where she studied at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Indiana University and a Master of Music in Flute Performance from DePaul University. She was awarded a recording grant in the Contemporary Record Societys National Performing Artist Competition.
