Personal Statement

Throughout most of my life I have worked as a musician in many capacities. I’ve taught private piano lessons and children’s group lessons. I’ve written and recorded my own CD. One of my songs has been published by Holiday Music, out of Los Angeles. I’ve worked as keyboardist and vocalist with a successful pop/country band out of Bowling Green, KY, played on recording sessions and written arrangements for other artists’ projects. Currently I’m serving as a church musician, both as pianist/organist and choir director. I’ve studied jazz, gospel and blues as well.
My professional goals are broad. I want to continue to grow as a player, teacher, director, writer, arranger, songwriter and singer. I am currently working on a Master’s degree at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. The opportunities to interact with faculty through observations and discussions have been invaluable and I have chosen to concentrate on studying the art of teaching. I get a great deal of satisfaction from helping others become better musicians and use many different techniques to achieve that goal.
