In addition to guitar lessons, he also teaches: electric bass, mandolin, ukulele and banjo. Many of his students have moved on to become professional musicians and instructors themselves. Education / Training
From the time he started formal lessons at the age of eight, Robert Gallagher has been influenced by and is skilled in many musical styles. These styles include: classical, jazz, rock, pop, finger-style, blues and metal. His passion for guitar playing continued through high school, studying at Fava Music Studio. He began teaching during his college years while studying both classical and jazz guitar and in 1988 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.
Throughout his career, Robert has studied with the legendary Carol Kaye, Greg Koch and Wolf Marshall, as well as: Jerry Klickstein, Paul Vondiziano, Paul Abler, Fabio Zanon and Lee Dyament of Wayne State University.
Currently, Robert teaches private lessons out of his studio in Huntington Woods, Michigan. He is also part-time faculty at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan. As a repeat winner of Detroit’s A-List and WDIV’s Vote 4 the Best contest and with over 30 years of teaching experience, he reaches out, helps and inspires many.
