Personal Statement
I teach Classical and American Folk music (Bluegrass, Appalachian etc.) at the beginning and intermediate level. My one-on-one lessons encourage students to explore different kinds of music while improving and perfecting posture, bow techniques, translation of expression to the bow and violin, and musicianship. After a certain amount of time, I host recitals for my students so they may showcase their improvements to both the audience and their families. Basic music theory is introduced at the beginning level and students are guaranteed to read music in 1-3 months (depending on age and commitment).
I take great pride in the improvements displayed by my students. Each of my students have unique personalities, and while my students do learn from me, I learn from them as well in terms of improving not only my teaching capabilities but also my ability to form a mutual relationship with my students to better understand how they learn and what their musical intentions are.
