Personal Statement

Hi! My names Adam Sweet. I play and teach mandolin and violin-family instruments (mandolin, mandola, mandocello, violin, viola). Im the founder of the South Hadley Mandolin Orchestra, co-founder of the traditional Irish duo Celticado, and the acoustic country and bluegrass trio The Americana Project. I have a BA in Ethnomusicology with a minor in Music Therapy from Hampshire College where I graduated in 1985. I opened my studio in 1986 and have been teaching adults (and some mature teenagers) how to play since.

Education / Training

I have a BA in Ethnomusicology and certifications in violin and performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music and Hampshire College. I graduated in 1985 and began teaching private and group lessons in 1986.
