Personal Statement

I am currently majoring in Violin Performance at Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music. I have been playing violin for ten years, and taking private lessons for almost seven of those years. During two of my high school years, I was Principal Second Violin in the Irvine Valley College Symphony Orchestra. I also played in the Long Beach City College Symphony Orchestra, and the Fullerton City College Symphony Orchestra (first violin section member). I have also held professional positions as a violinist, such as Principal Second Violin of the Downey Civic Light Opera, Violinist in the Orange County Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Principal Second Violinist in Downey Calvary High School’s production of Titanic, A New Musical.

I am a friendly, understanding, helpful, and down-to-earth violin instructor, and person. I have a deep passion, and love for teaching violin and find it to be very enjoyable, and enlightening for both myself, and my students. I also possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to answer my student’s questions. I work with the student to achieve their goals on the violin, while ensuring they are developing a strong, and correct method/technique in which to further their development as a violinist. My teaching style for violin builds on the idea that in order to achieve one’s highest potential on such a difficult instrument, one must be physically relaxed, and build up muscle memory. I build on a strong foundation of exercises, and scales, while still making sure my student is enjoying themselves.

I specialize in teaching Classical music and the Pain-Free Violin Method, inspired by Dorothy Delay, which allows for pain-free, relaxed violin playing.

My past teacher of almost five years, Dr. Linda Rodgers, studied under Elizabeth Ivanoff Holborn, who studied under Ivan Galamian.
My current teacher of almost two years, Professor William Fitzpatrick studied at Juilliard under the renowned violin pedagogy, Dorothy Delay.
