Personal Statement

I have loved music for as long as I can remember. So I’ve never questioned whether I could do it. So it amazes me how many people say things like “I wish I had musical talent” or “I wish I had kept playing.” Modern research has shown that the best players are the ones that put in the most time playing and practicing, not the most talented. To play music, you just have to start. To play music well, you need to get good coaching and practice what you’ve learned. It’s that simple. I believe everyone should play something.

One of the things that sets my teaching style apart from others is that I believe every person has unique goals, personality & lifestyle. I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the individual student.

There is another factor that sets my approach apart from other teachers. Because I’ve spent my whole adult life making a living as a professional trumpet player, I’ve had to wear a lot of hats and learn a lot of music. I’ve found some very efficient ways to learn & practice. I call these turbocharged techniques “Kung Fu for Trumpet.” Using the most efficient means of learning allows us to get to the music sooner.
