Personal Statement

James offers trumpet lessons live or via Skype. Beginners to Advanced levels are all welcome. James has twenty years experience teaching students of every level and age.

Please contact James if you are interested in face-to-face live trumpet lessons and he can coordinate his travel schedule with you.

If you would like to pursue Skype lessons please contact James for further information and to make arrangements.

Trumpet Lessons over the Internet/Skype are really terrific! Here are some advantages to Skype Trumpet Lessons with James:

*Lessons can be done in the comfort of your own home
*Driving/Distance are not an issue (saves you travel time and fuel costs)
*Have your lesson on the day and time that is convenient for you
*James has many materials that he can send you in PDF format to expand your learning and development
*Also allows for multiple consecutive lessons if you are preparing for an audition/play test/juries

Skype lessons are recommended for students who are more established (i.e. late middle school-high school-college-adult). I generally do not recommend Skype for beginners due to the need for hands-on assistance in getting started on the trumpet.

Teaching Philosophy:

Each student is approached as an individual artist. James will work with each student to develop a successful approach to the trumpet and to music in general. Studies include musicality, style (i.e. classical, jazz, commercial, etc), technique, articulation, flow studies, airflow and body management, range, concept playing, imagination development, and many other concepts.

James’ trumpet studio alumni have gone on to become professional musicians, band directors/music educators, and college students that are currently pursuing music (or are alumni) at fine schools of higher learning and music schools around the country.

James has written pedagogical articles and developed his own specialized studies reference. He plans to publish his book on the art of trumpet playing in the near future. Please contact James to purchase his articles and studies. He will craft a unique version crafted to your needs and goals.

Please visit James’ website www.trumpeter.com for further information as well as audio and video clips of James performing.
