Personal Statement

I am currently accepting new students! I teach the traditional method with supplements from unique Russian method books. I teach any age and level, and have experience teaching adults as well as youth.

I believe that it’s important to teach each individual student. I get to know their interests, strengths, and passions. This allows me to teach engaging and creative lessons. I also believe that it’s important to practice goal setting and encourage both short and long term goals for each student. A solid foundation of technique and tone are important to consistently build. It is also important to explore individual musicality from an early age. I work on ensemble playing with students by playing regularly with piano, and playing cello duets. I encourage students to listen to lots of music and attend local concerts to broaden their musical horizons. I strive to inspire a love for music and learning in each student!

Education / Training

I completed my master’s in cello performance in 2011 studying with Dr. Tanya Remenikova at the University of Minnesota. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University where I studied with Dr. Nina Gordon through 2009. I’ve also studied cello in Vienna Austria under Joseph Luitz while playing chamber music and studying music history in Spring of 2007.
