Personal Statement
I have been teaching private piano lessons for over 15 years. I have students that have taken piano lessons with me since they were four years old and are still taking with me at 13 and 14 years old. I try to make the lesson fun, I go out of my way to find music that my students enjoy. I try to incorporate music games when I can. I have been a teacher of the Faber piano lesson series for years.
I also teach early childhood music. I have taught early childhood music for 12 years. I teach ages 18 months to 5. Classes consist of dancing, finger plays, movement activities, playing percussion instruments, as well as incorporating puppets and visual activities. I also use scarves for many activities. Come fall 2012 I will be teaching small classes out of my studio.
Education / Training
I have a Bachelors in music and music education from Mercyhurst University. I majored in voice and minored in piano. I have played the piano since I was 7 and took private lessons since I was 7 with Barbara Pickhardt. I also took private voice lessons starting at age 16 with Cecilia Keehn.
I have also studied voice with Danielle Woerner.
I have my certifications in Orff Schulwerk level 1, Kindermusik and Musikgarten.
I have been teaching private piano for 15 years and early childhood music for 12 years.
