Each year South Shore Conservatory proudly presents the DUXBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL, a musical program unique to all of New England. Founded with the knowledge that music enriches the human spirit and the belief that this experience can only be heightened by a beautiful setting, the Duxbury Music Festival is located in an idyllic seaside community, thirty-five miles south of Boston and twenty miles north of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The Duxbury Music Festival is a two-week intensive program for the study and performance of solo and chamber repertoire for undergraduate, post-graduate students and adult professionals. Festival Director Stephen Deitz gathers to this historic and picturesque town a renowned faculty who offer both solo and chamber performances as well as daily individual instruction and ensemble coaching. A select group of approximately 20 students participate in multiple private lessons and intensive ensemble coachings as well as a variety of daily performance opportunities. Moreover, a generous allocation of time for daily practice ensures that students will have the opportunity to reap the benefits of their individual and ensemble instruction. The program includes: four 1-hour private lessons, four 1-hour ensemble coachings, numerous student recitals, three faculty concerts, chamber music master classes, chamber ensemble competition, Winners Concert, abundant practice time, bayside room and board, and pool parties. Audiences are invited to purchase tickets for faculty concerts and the student Chamber Music Competition Winners Concert. Performances are held at the Conservatorys Ellison Center for the Arts, in seaside homes and at other Duxbury locations.
