Villa Musica is a center for community music education enabling San Diegans of all ages and backgrounds to discover, explore and enhance their music skills as part of a network of musicians and lovers of music. Opening its doors in the fall of 2006 at San Diego’s new NTC Promenade, Villa Musica will offer a collaborative and creative environment for those seeking to enhance their music skills: – a world-class music facility filled with local energy and international standards. In addition to individual lessons, the school will provide a range of courses that will foster collaboration amongst its students, such as ensemble practice, group workshops, and performance opportunities. Instruction will focus on classical techniques, but also include opportunities to study music theater, jazz, new music and other styles as desired. While we will offer instruction in a variety of instruments such as guitar and piano, our initial focus will be on vocal programs, including a community choir, individual and group voice lessons, workshops for singers, and vocal ensemble opportunities.
