An important musical factor in Rockland County since 1956, The Rockland Conservatory of Music (RCM) continues its mission of providing professional music instruction to all ages and levels at reasonable rates, regardless of ethnic, religious or financial backgrounds. RCM received its permanent charter from the New York State Board of Regents in 1965 as a non-profit educational corporation. It serves over 550 students in the community with 47 faculty members, offering music instruction to students ranging from 3-year old Suzuki students to senior citizens in private instruction. Located conveniently for students from three counties, RCM offers instruction in all instruments, voice, theory, children’s chorus, teen chorus, orchestra, chamber ensembles, guitar salon and music therapy. Affiliates include The Rockland Camerata, a 35-voice adult chorus, The Festival of the Arts at St. Paul’s, a concert series in South Nyack, and the Rockland String Ensemble, an adult and student summer orchestra.
